Technet Update - Stockholm

Written on Nov 24 07 // Microsoft.

After a grand tour of Sweden we finally arrived at Microsoft HQ in Stockholm for our last presentation this week. Around 100 people showed up out of 120 on the list. But that’s the way it is with free events, especially in Stockholm on a friday… It went well at least, I had one demo that didn’t crash even though it was supposed too. Have to check it out how it comes that it worked.

Now it’s only one left, that’s on the 4:th of December. We’re having this one next to Hard Rock Café and the room fits about 220 people. It’s gonna be interesting to see how many there’ll be.

Have some new questions in the mail too, these are as follows:

Question 1: Is it possible to deploy clients for business applications like SAP?

Answer 1: The short answer would be “it depends”. Applications requiring ODBC-connections will not work. If the application uses RPC or named pipes or just Tcp/ip-communication it’ll work just fine.

Question 2: Is it possible to import/export the user settings for a Softgrid-package?

Answer 2: Investigating…

Question 3: When will the Swedish language files be available for Windows Server 2008?

Answer 3: Have mailed the product manager, will answer as soon as possible.

Question 4: Is there any antivirus software available for Windows Server 2008?

Answer 4: In my lab-environment I havent used any, but as the question came along I’m going to try some different ones out. Will post results here!
