After receiving the question from a customer about upgrading, a process I haven’t done in about five years I had to do some research.
The following table shows the valid paths, and there are a few caveats:
No cross-platform (32 bit to 64 bit or vice versa)
No 2003 (any edition) to Server Core
No uninstall after upgrade (rollback is possible on a failed upgrade though)
