I recevied an email the other day that made me really happy, it’s from Phil (whose company I won’t disclose).
“THANK YOU for pulling together information on iSCSI target software for Windows… much appreciated.
I was looking to do an iSCSI SAN as a backend for an application and had recently priced out Dell’s Equallogic SAN and am quoted near $50,000 US for 16 TB drives.
Now I can consider building my own iSCSI SAN with more cache, great flexibility of disk config, and a substantially cheaper price.
I know it’s more complex to implement my own for sure, but when performance and/or cost matter it seems like a great way to go.
Do you have any information on relative performance/scalability of the various iSCSI Target software? I see your feature comparison (helpful) but I really don’t have a sense of which might perform better under heavy load.
Thanks and keep up the great work!”
I like when readers find the articles useful and it’s always fun when someone tells you that they appreciate your work.
